MEM31922 Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade

Who is this Qualification for?
MEM31922 Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade covers the skills and knowledge required for employment as an Engineering Tradesperson – Fabrication within metal, engineering, manufacturing and associated industries or other industries where Engineering Tradespersons – Fabrication work. The qualification has been specifically developed to meet the needs of apprentices in the above trade. The qualification packaging has been developed on an assumption that competency will be developed through an integrated combination of on and off-the-job learning strategies such as those delivered through a formal apprenticeship. The qualification may also be achieved through formal skills recognition assessment processes.

Fabrication Trade includes employment in fabrication, welding, forging, structural steel erection, sheet metal working, metal finishing, pattern making, moulding, and the use of related computer controlled equipment using metals, plastics, carbon fibre, composite materials, ceramics and other materials.

This is a Nationally Recognised qualification.

Prerequisite Requirements
As per individual units of competency chosen within this qualification.

Program Overview
This is a competency-based program.

The minimum requirements for achievement of the MEM31922 Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade are;

  • completion of all core units of competency
  • completion of Fabrication Trade stream units to the value of at least 40 points and
  • completion of elective units to bring the total value of Fabrication Trade stream and elective units to the value 96 points.

Relevance to engineering workplace requirements can be tailored via selections of Fabrication Trade stream and elective units.

Participants who successfully complete this qualification have the option of a future pathway into the following:

  • Certificate IV in Engineering
  • Diploma in Engineering
  • Advanced Diploma on Engineering
  • And other Engineering qualifications

Participants may continue studies through enrolment in a university degree, applying for articulation on a case-by-case basis.
